She developed a passion for working with current and former serving members of the Australian Defence Force when offered a counselling role with Open Arms - Veterans and Families Counselling Service in 2018. Her main focus was providing evidence-based, trauma-informed psychology support to Defence personnel and veterans impacted by trauma and related issues, such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Moral Injury and Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Throughout her almost six years with Open Arms she also supported ADF members/veterans experiencing a range of issues such as depression, anxiety, impacts of relationship breakdowns/ impacts of work-place challenges, adjustment post discharge, loss of identity/self-worth, grief and loss as well as hazardous alcohol intake. Her role also inovled supporting the partners and children (adult) of Veterans to enhance their own mental health and wellbeing.
